The article presents the results of a theoretical study of the problem of legal education of high school students in the aspect of their legal culture formation as a condition for professional self-determination in the direction of choosing the profession of an internal affairs officer. The key concepts “high school students’ legal culture”, “professional orientation of high school students to the choice of the profession of an internal affairs officer” are given, that are concretized taking into account the purpose and features of the study, as well as the structural components of the studied cultural phenomenon are identified and characterized. The special role of professional orientation, professional self-determination in the conscious choice of the profession of an internal affairs officer is emphasized. A comprehensive pedagogical program “Formation of high school students’ legal culture and their readiness to choose the profession of an internal affairs officer” is proposed. The characteristics of the sections of the program are given, the directions for its successful implementation in the process of teaching and educating high school students of general education schools are determined.
