The problem of psychological readiness takes on special significance in the environment of convicts, especially when preparing them for release. The extent to which a convict is able to build their lawabiding behavior largely depends on the level of its development. In this regard, increasing psychological readiness is one of the dominant factors in successful re-socialization. The article presents the results of an empirical study of the level of readiness of convicts for life after release from a correctional facility. Studying the level of preparedness of convicts for life on the outside and carrying out specially organized work with them can become an effective tool that contributes to the formation of personal changes, resocialization and reduction of the level of repeated crimes. To solve these issues, a comprehensive approach is required, including the development of rehabilitation programs, the participation of society, non-governmental organizations in the correctional process and assistance to persons released from places of imprisonment.
