The article deals with the administrative and legal status of the State Road Safety Inspectorate as the main subject of state administration that ensures public safety in the field of road traffic. The content of the main regulatory legal acts regulating the activities of the State Road Safety Inspectorate is analyzed. Statistical data on the state of road safety on the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan and their impact on the control and supervisory function of the State Road Safety Inspectorate are analyzed. The important role of legality in the activities of employees of the State Road Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was noted, measures to combat corruption in the internal affairs bodies in general and in the activities of the traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia were considered.
