The article considers the importance of the idea of humanism in the system of principles of criminal procedure, acting as one of the components of the ideology of criminal proceedings. It is noted that the idea of humanism as philanthropy, love and respect for elders in age and social status arose already in the philosophy of the Ancient World. In the introductory part, on the basis of the historical and comparative method, including the results of sociological research, the relevance of the selected topic is indicated. The content of the work is the analysis of certain generally recognized norms and principles of international law and criminal, criminal procedure legislation of the Russian Federation, as well as the opinions of researchers regarding the content of the principle of humanism and its moral basis. The final part of the article summarizes the results, formulates conclusions with a proposal to improve criminal proceedings in terms of deepening and reviving the spiritual and moral foundations of the activities of specific officials involved in criminal proceedings.
