The topic of activating the civil participation of the population in solving local self-government issues occupies a leading position among the tasks related to improving the activities of local self-government bodies. The identified problem is due to the obstacles that the local level faces in the process of implementing its immediate tasks. Taking into account that the main function of local self-government is to act as a significant foundation for the socio-economic development of the state, the need to solve emerging problems is obvious. It also becomes clear that without the activation of civil participation, the progress of these issues will slow down. An analysis of the low social activity of citizens shows that its foundations lie in the socio-psychological attitude of the modern generation and its dependence on the authorities. It has been established that the passivity of citizens should be overcome by their gradual involvement in the activities of local self-government. The solution to this problem, in our opinion, lies in the formation of the willingness of the population of the municipality to influence the levels of the local community, management structures, and the decision-making process. The study also reflects the factors that determine the adverse impact of the participation of the population in the socio-political development of the municipality.
