Abstract (English):
The article considers the topical issues related to the history of the emergence and formation of the definition of “ethnic crime” in operational search activities with the subsequent use of this term by criminologists and inclusion it in state criminal legal statistical reporting, formed on the results of investigations of criminal cases initiated against persons of various nationalities and ethnicities. It discloses the issues related to the legitimacy and interpretation of the definition of “ethnic crime”, the implementation of the constitutional principles of equality before the law and the problems that encountered by operational search authorities in the process of exercising powers to combat crimes committed by this category of persons.
