Civil law regulation of euthanasia on the territory of the Russian Federation
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
On the territory of the Russian Federation, with the consent of relatives, hundreds of people are disconnected from automatic life support devices every day. The legislator cannot prohibit this procedure, since there will be a shortage of places for new patients in need of artificial life support, but cannot allow it, since this contradicts Article 20 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. According to this procedure, a certain practice has been formed that determines the civil legal regulation of this issue from the position of a transaction between a medical organization and the relatives of a patient who, for physiological reasons, is not able to make legal decisions on his own.
