Abstract:
The deprivation of a person’s liberty has a significant impact on his personality. It is especially difficult for those who have been sentenced to long terms to adapt to isolation conditions, as they are deprived of their usual social environment. The article examines the issue of studying the peculiarities of fear manifestation in those sentenced to long terms of imprisonment. These fears are caused by the uncertainty of the future, social isolation, loss of social connections and professional skills, as well as possible legal and social consequences after returning to society. Studying the psychological state of convicts is an important aspect of penitentiary practice and makes it possible to develop more effective strategies for the rehabilitation and re-socialization of long-term prisoners.
