This article analyzes the linguistic and stylistic features of legal documents. The topic was chosen because various areas of human activity, including jurisprudence, require accurate, reliable, and detailed recording of information in writing. This requires the use of official business style texts, which have become an integral part of human communication. The following paradigm of methods is proposed as the methodological basis for the study: analytical, comparative typological, cognitive, and others. It is noted that translating legal documents from English into Russian is fraught with various difficulties. The problem of translation equivalence is explained by the inconsistency between the systems of two languages and the stylistic features of their functional styles. It is emphasized that when translating legal documents, attention should be paid to the context in which each term is used. Examples of the use of vocabulary and grammatical structures characteristic of legislative documents are provided. It is concluded that the study is relevant, since legal document texts reflect the structure of the language, which allows for an adequate study of their various pragmatic properties and context in terms of lexical content.
