Abstract:
The presented article examines the modern legal category – the taxonomy of law in the context of its theoretical and methodological aspect as a complex systemic and hierarchical multilevel phenomenon necessary to identify new patterns in law and expand existing legal knowledge. The author gives a doctrinal description of the category, its connection with natural science knowledge, as well as with social and humanitarian sciences, including law. It is shown that the taxonomy of law characterizes the systematization and structuring of legal knowledge, aimed at identifying the hierarchy of elements of the legal system, as well as other functional relationships and patterns of law development. Special attention is paid to comparing the taxonomy of law with a systematic approach, which makes it possible to consider the legal system as an integral and complexly organized subsystem of the social system. Examples of the category’s application in various branches of law (constitutional, administrative, criminal) are given, as well as the experience of studying it in the context of comparative legal research. The conclusion is made about the significant methodological potential of the taxonomy of law category for an in-depth analysis of modern state-legal processes that need to be substantiated and introduced into scientific circulation of new legal knowledge.
