The authors of the article analyze the concept of “ideological security”, which is not enshrined in any normative legal act, but has been actively penetrating the scientific discourse in recent years. Based on the analysis of the influence of ideology on the public consciousness of modern society, the authors of the work show the danger of the existence of a “society without ideology” in the modern era of hybrid wars, “color” revolutions, the fusion of the power of capital and political regimes. The ideological risks of national security leading to an identity crisis are analyzed – the inability of members of society to identify themselves with the country’s development model and with dominant values. In order to understand the internal and external risks for modern Russia, it is necessary to formulate a targeted strategy for national ideological security, maintain the leadership and dominance of the leading state ideology and build an ideological line of defense in order to ensure overall national security.
